Instructions

Purpose:  The purpose of this test is to make sure you have mastered enough skills and gained enough knowledge of these concepts to be an informed consumer of relevant news and goods:  mean, median, mode, 5-number summary, boxplot, standard deviation, the normal distribution, central limit theorem, polling, drug trials and correlation.

Tasks:

  • Please write your name on your papers and use lots of papers for the work you do on the test - not just one sheet.
  • Please read each question carefully twice.
  • Please show all of your work neatly for each question.
  • Please write your answers clearly and type them in the spaces provided.
  • Please draw a picture or diagram if needed - the questions instructions will guide you.
  • Please check your answer for each question.
  • If you are interested, I will give you extra credit if you answer each question twice before you hit submit.  So please consider completing each question, then starting back at question 1 and doing every question a second time.  Please show your work for both attempts and I will give you extra credit.  Click on submit after you have attempted each question twice.

Criteria:  Each question will show how many points it is worth.  If you type the incorrect answer you might also receive some "attempt" points if your work for the question shows that you are "on the right track" or close to correct.  So please make sure to write down all of your work for each question neatly and clearly on your paper in order to get the best possible grade.
